It’s almost Spring which means another season is also upon us. Yep, brides rejoice. It’s Wedding Season, so we’re looking a gowns that have. Blown. Our. Minds.

Go big or go home. That’s what these brides had in mind when they envisioned their wedding dresses. Here are some of the most OTT gowns in history - and their expensive weddings to go with it!

Victoria Swarovski and Werner Murz

When you’re heir to the Swarovski-crystals empire like Victoria Swarovski is, there’s no way your wedding dress isn’t going to dazzle. When the 23-year-old bride walked down the aisle to wed new husband, Werner Murz in Italy recently, she wore a Michael Cinco gown with 500K crystals (weighing an estimated 47kg) worth a sparkly $1 million. Crystals also featured prominently on the bride’s Jimmy Choo’s and her wedding band, obvs.

Kim Kardashian & Kanye West

Breaker of the internet, Kim K wore two gowns worth $2.1 mill when she wed Kanye. She walked down the aisle in a couture Givenchy creation with long lace sleeves, mermaid silhouette, waist cutouts, and a cathedral-length veil before slipping into a Balmain plunging pearl-embellished minidress.

While her gowns weren’t OTT,  the rest of the wedding was. John Legend, Andrea Bocelli, Lana Del Rey, and Big Sean all performed and the couple also spent a reported $136K on flowers alone. (THAT flower wall!)

Diana Spencer & Prince Charles

Princess Di and her memory have been in the news lately, but throwback to when she became the Princess of Wales, and you get all the pomp, puff and circumstance that goes with that. Di’s Victorian-style dress featured silk taffeta and antique lace embellishes with over 1,000 pearls and sequins, and shoulder pads (Whattup 80s!) - the train alone was a stunning 7.5 metres long. With 27 wedding cakes and a five-foot-tall centre cake that supposedly took 14 weeks to prepare, the entire shindig cost $110 million!

Kate Middleton & Prince William

Following in the footsteps of her late Mother-in-law, Kate Middleton’s Grace Kelly inspired gown, designed by Sarah Burton, creative director at Alexander McQueen, featured a lace applique bodice with hand-cut, individually-applied English and French Chantilly lace roses, thistles, daffodils and shamrocks each symbolising England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. With a price tag of $400K and arriving in a horse-drawn carriage, it was a fairytale wedding.

Victoria & David Beckham

The dress may not have been blazoned with gems, but Posh did wear a crown and the bride and groom sat on GOLD thrones at the alter. With a guest list that included the former Spice Girls’ bandmates, along with Elton John and some of England’s most prestigious set, the 1999 nuptials rang in a bill of $800,000. It was quite the affair.
