Going green: the colour of the season
How to inject green into your life!
Drink it, wear it, look at it.
Anybody else over the cold? Uh-huh, we thought so. Lucky for us spring is on the way and that means sunshine, flowers and lots of green! It’s the colour of the season and we’ve got all the tips on how to inject this fresh hue into your life and say “Ciao” to those winter blues.
First up, start drinking ‘em! We’re all about those green juices. It’s a great way to get a salad’s worth of veggies in one cup. The best bit? If you’re not a fan of all that spinach and kale, you can barely taste them in a juice. Chuck some cucumber, spinach, apple and lemon in with the green stuff and you’re good to go.
Need something with a bit more caffeine for a morning lift? Try matcha. Made with green tea powder, it has less caffeine than coffee but gives you a better ‘high’ coz you absorb it at a slower rate. That means you don’t get the afternoon crash. You can have it in a latte, in pancakes and even ice cream. YES PLEASE.
Inject some green in your home by bringing the garden indoors. Yup. Even if you’re living in a concrete jungle, you can still get some zen with indoor plants. No green thumb? Don’t worry, grab yourself some low-maintenance plants like cacti, succulents and devil’s ivy.
Check them every three to four days and be aware of what kind of light they need. You can jazz up your space with cool pots and hanging baskets too.
If you’re too worried you’ll kill the greenery, consider adding pops to your interiors around pieces like teal platters or forest pillows.
But one of the best ways to get some green in your life is via your wardrobe. From mint to khaki, there’s a bunch of ways to incorporate the shade into your style. If you’re not ready to take the plunge with full-on green, try some green accessories. Think emerald earrings and pastel glasses.
Even if you wear all black erryday, you can brighten up your look with a fierce green bag. Go for statement. Oh yeah baby.
Another option is a neutral outfit with a pop of green. Oversized capes and cardis offer a nod to the tone without feeling like you’re stuck wearing it all day.
Khaki is a great way to get green in your wardrobe with a more muted edge. And khaki is back in a big way. We’re talking celebs in full-blown khaki outfits, which mean it must be good.
If you’re itching for summer (aren’t we all?) then look to swimwear for the green goods. A green bikini looks great with a tan, too. Bonus.
If you’re feeling really brave, you can take a dip into the world of green make-up. Try some emerald shadows and maybe even some green lippy (yes it exists!). It’s a statement look but we’re confident it can be pulled off!
