This is a PSA: there’s nothing like a beautiful pair of high heels. But there is also nothing beautiful about the pain of wearing bad heels on a long night out. Nobody likes their footwear killing the dancefloor vibes. So, how to rock stilettos without the pain? Read on... Bye-bye blisters!

Tip 1: Make like Cinderella and check your shoe fits! 

When you can, try and have your foot properly sized. (Your shoe size can change!) No matter how pretty they are, don’t buy heels that don’t fit comfortably. Make sure your foot isn’t sliding around in the shoe and that your toes aren’t squished. 

Also, the thicker the heel, the more support. And the more open the shoe, the less support you’ll have. If you're a heel newbie, get something with straps and a platform to keep you stable! It’s a lot. We know. 

Tip 2: Shoe cushions work wonders

Invest in some of those gel inserts. They make a biiiig difference to pain on the balls of your feet. They also help make you a bit more steady by giving your heel more grip within the shoe. That means less sliding and less need to reach for the band-aids the next day for nasty toe blisters!

Tip 3: Be aware of your core 

Weirdly enough, yoga and pilates can help with a high-heel wearing, party gal lifestyle. A strong core helps with your balance and the more aware you are of your ab muscles, the steadier you’ll be. It’s always a good idea to take yourself for a spin in your brand spankin’ new shoes before you head out. Break ‘em in a bit and practice engaging all those muscles. 

Tip 4: Sit down

Srsly tho. Take advantage of chairs, sofas, ottomans, the floor etc. on a night out. The less time you stand in high heels = less pain. Give your feet a break and a chance for people to admire your fabulous footwear.

Tip 5: Pamper those feet!

After a long day or night of heels, dancing and 2am kebabs, treat your feet. Give em a good stretch after you take your heels off, get those toes wrigglin’ and run yourself a foot bath. Epsom salts and peppermint oil will soak away any pain and leave your feet feelin’ fresh. It’s a good idea to do some calf stretching as well.
