ARCHFASHION: What is the most flattering style you've seen coming through for this summer?
CL: “There are two silhouettes to invest in this summer. One is shoulder details. From peek-a-boo to complete off-the-shoulder looks, there are so many styles to choose from. This trend looks best when made super-femme in pretty pastels and floaty shapes. This trend also gives you a great introduction to some of the big winter trends that will be coming our way, such as the statement sleeve (large and puffy sleeves, very 80-'s style). Look to brands like, Alice McCall and Cooper St for inspo.”
CL: “Your other go-to style choice is anything ruffles. Last summer was all about pleats and this summer the sister trend ruffles has taken over. The key when wearing ruffles is to think about your body and where you can add shape or where you want to hide it. Also consider diagonal ruffles rather than sticking to horizontal for a flattering shape. Talulah and Hello Parry both do this really well.”
AF: What will the ladies be wearing for a night out with friends?
CL: “Metallics are going to be a hit for a girls night out. They give off a fun, playful yet sophisticated vibe. Look for silky silvers and pair these back with blacks for a luxe look. Metallics are so versatile, too. If it’s a more casual night add denim to tone the look down.”
AF: What colours should we watch out for in 2018 (and stock up on)?
CL: “It is going to be a bright colourful summer. Tropical warm tones such as yellows, reds, pinks and oranges are going to be everywhere so join the warm rainbow.”
CL: “Beyond the colours, patterns and textures will be big. Look for these key prints that will be everywhere and will add some extra fun to your summer look.”
AF: What will be your go-to accessory for summer?
CL: “The piece I will be pairing back with all my outfits this season is the new bamboo or straw market bag... It is so versatile (especially the round ones with a strap) and perfect for a beach day, lunch with the girls or a Sunday sesh at the local bar.”
AF: OK, onto trendsetters… who should be following to look for style inspo? Who are your top three Influencers? Why?
CL: “For inner-city chic vibes follow Nadia Fairfax. She’s great at showing how to wear fashion-forward pieces, while still keeping them effortless. Follow Rachel Tee Tyler for sports luxe, street style. She is the queen of the sporty feels and no one does it better. And, you can't go past Elle Ferguson as a top trendsetter! She is the best example of minimalist style done to perfection.”
