“I’m so happy to jump outta bed erry day!” said no one. Ever. (Not on the reg anyway.) But wouldn’t it be so nice to have that up-and-at-em tude day in, day out? We’ve got you covered. Keep your wellbeing in check with these healthy morning tips - and coffee isn’t even one of them. Nip-the-morning-in-the-butt and make a fresh start to your AM.
1) Get up even earlier
OK, so this doesn’t seem like the most rise-worthy tip but trust us. Giving yourself the extra time to wrap your head around getting up, getting ready and doing all the things before walking out the door, will make for a much calmer start to your day. Give it a try.
2) Get downward
Yoga or stretching is the perf way to wake up your limbs - and once your limbs are awake the rest is way easy. Try this morning tip from Boho Beautiful. You can even do this one in bed. Bonus!
3) Don’t skip brekky
Sounds simple but it’s amazing how many of us prefer the extra zzz’s to nourishing the bod before starting the day. Make time to fill your bowl with all the good stuff like healthy fats, carbs and protein to fuel your day right. Include plenty of metabolism-boosting extras like berries, oats and natural yoghurt, too.
4) Stick to it
After all your hard work it can be easy to slip into sleeping til noon come the weekends. Problem is, you’re not doing yourself any favours by hitting snooze every Saturday and Sunday. You’ll just make it that much harder to bounce outta bed when Monday morning rolls around if you fall back into sleepy-head patterns.
5) Clock it
You’ve gone to all the trouble of setting your alarm, so make the most of it by placing your wake-up call far enough away from the bedside table that you have to actually get up and out of bed to turn the ringing thing off! Then, viola… you’re up!
6) Turn up the tunes
Have a playlist of your fave songs ready to go as soon as your feet hit the floor. Music to keep you moving will help get your heart rate going, adrenalin pumping and your mind moving towards getting out the door. On. Time. Take Cyndi’s lead for a bit of retro inspo…
7) Drink up
And we don’t mean coffee. Start the day with a tall glass of water. If you wanna mix it up a bit, squeeze some lemon juice in there too. Not only will the hit of hydration help get your mind switch on to start the day, the antioxidants in lemon water help fight free radicals, so your skin glows, too. Double yes!
8) Get the good vibes going
Don’t look at your phone first thing. Do say happy thoughts, or feel-good mantras out loud to put you in a go-get-em mood. Simple, but totally effective.
9) Lay it out
We’ve all done it: standing in front of the wardrobe, staring aimlessly at the racks in front of us, seconds ticking away, not being able to make a decision on what to wear, and the bus is due any minute! Don’t put yourself under the stress… choose your outfit the night before (def include a jacket in case the weather changes on you) and have everything ready to throw on. Save your brain power.
