To meme oneself is to be highly enlightened (Zoolander anyone?). And Gucci is, after all, evolutionary. So the team at chez Gucci, hired international meme makers (who knew that was a job?) to poke fun at their own fabulousness and advertise the new Marché des Merveilles line of watches.
Dope artists from around the world have collaborated for the #TFWGucci campaign, and there isn’t a moody teen or Hadid sister in sight!
It isn’t the first time the couture fashion house has taken the self-depreciating route. Campaigns like #TeamGucci, #24HourAce and “Four Rooms” lead the way for #TFW.
Some haute haters have called fail on the campaign as trying too hard to connect with Millennials – cynical much? And sure, some of them deserve a healthy dose of eye-rolling, but most will give you the lols.
Gucci’s say: "The final memes demonstrate Alessandro Michele’s desire to engage with a wider creative community than that which traditionally locates around the world of fashion." We hear that. Here are our faves…
