63-year-old Christie Brinkley poses for Sports Illustrated
Girl, you still got it.
5 beautiful women who are better with age.
Talk about a career comeback. Supermodel Christie Brinkley is back with a show for Sports Illustrated. No stranger to the cover of this iconic fitness masthead, Brinkley has made many appearances here, the first of which was in 1979(!). What. A. Babe.
In the shoot, the hot mum stars alongside Alexa Ray Joel, her 31-year-old daughter with ex-hubby Billy Joel, and Sailor Brinkley Cook, her 18-year-old daughter with ex-husband Peter Cook. Talk about good genes.
"Thank you Sports Illustrated," she wrote, "for sending the powerful message that good things come in packages of every size and we do not come with an expiration date!"
Look, they’re called supermodels for a reason.
So, what are the other supers doing these days? We checked in with those women who seem to have miraculously stopped time.
Elle ‘The Body’ Macpherson
She’s the girl from Down Under, and long held the record for the most appearances in Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition (now there’s a Google rabbit hole if there ever was one. Literally you will lose HOURS.) She surfs and touts a green powder that makes your skin shine (she called it Super Elixer and dammit we can’t live without ours). She’ll be 52 come March but here she is for Sports Illustrated in 1988:
And for ELLE Australia only last year:
She isn’t without a sense of humor. Here’s her Oz Day post promoting her Super Elixir / Fountain of Youth:
Oh wow. That hair. How is even possible? One of Helmut Newton’s favourites, she’s done all the BIG shoots. This year is her 50th and THIS is her on the newest edition of VOGUE Australia:
And a little something-something from the shoot:
But this is how she was, way back in 1991:
Also, you need to watch this Superbowl Ad:
No wonder you wish they could all be California girls. Case in point: Christy Turlington. Nothing came between her and her Calvin’s (she was the face of his 1989 Eternity campaign). She’s 48 this year, and according to Porter Magazine, the “Most super of them all…”
Here’s her circa 1990, rocking COSMO (how GOOD are the cover lines from those days?)
OK, what is actually going on here? Does this 43-year-old have some kind of secret hot tub time machine?
Here she is for Harper’s BAZAAR last year:
And this is her back in 2002. To be honest we can’t really tell the difference:
Oh and also this (hi Will):
She is our ultimate pin-up: she has shot with Mario Testino, Richard Avedon, Gilles Bensimon and all the other Big Names. 48? We don’t believe it.
Here she is on set for Sports Illustrated back in the day.
And, now, for VOGUE Spain at the close of last year:
But it’s not just Supers who are still slaying. Read here.
