Don’t Step Away From The Brush
It’s not scary… Promise!
Today is the day you become a hair expert.
We LOVE a good slicked pony a la Kimmy K, but it can sometimes be a tad intimidating when it comes to actually recreating it without looking like a post-gym mess. Here’s a few words (and pics) of some inspo that will get you saying YOLO and trying out the best celeb styles!
Kween Kimmy K (W) knows the power of a good slick pony - hello instant facelift - but it can be a bit tricky if you have a fringe. For this do’, it is key to blowdry your hair using a round brush, making sure to blow the hair away from your face. After you tie up your hair in the tightest pony you can get, steal a bit of your SO’s hair gel and slick back any pesky fly aways with a comb. Voila, you are now having the perfect Kardashian moment.
The most common hairstyle out there right now (and maybe the most intimidating) are the double dutch braids - or boxer braids - that are popping up all over insta. These look tricky but trust us, once you get the hang of it you’ll be doing these every time you need to quickly pop your hair up and off your face. The trick here is to really focus on getting them tight to your scalp when you are braiding, then if you want you can loosen it up after.
Speaking of braids, the fishtail popped onto the radar circa 2015 and we just can’t let go. The fishtail braid is super versatile, with the ability to go from Blake Lively boho to Selena Gomez sleek in just a pinch of a few strands. This style works perfectly for people with thick hair of any length, just make sure to hold that hair tight and don’t let go!
If you are a fine haired lady who loves the look of the half up bun but has a problem getting volume in the hair left down, make sure to try out a volumizing spray. Style your hair as desired (our fav at the mo are beachy waves) and then spritz with a healthy amount and shake through with your fingers, focusing on the roots. You’ll be looking like you’ve just had a full head of extensions installed, without the hefty price tag!
The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show may have aired a few months ago, but we are still majorly crushing on all their hair. Super smooth, natural waves always sound like a good idea but can be super tricky once you start trying! Here, velcro rollers are your new bestie. Grab a few larger rings and roll them up the hair, then wait a few mins while they set. You can even use this time to perfect your cat eye!
Good luck, and remember to have fun! Practice makes perfect and soon you’ll be the hair expert in your gal gang.
