The new kid on the dating block

Swipe right for Bumble

Sorry Tinder, you’re dropped

We’ve come a long way ladies. From way back in 1727, when bad bitch Helen Morrison became the first woman to list a personal ad in her local Lonely Hearts column. Poor Helen was institutionalised in a mental asylum after the Mayor objected to her behaviour. Seriously. But these days? Well, it’s all about love online. Sporting a sexy interface, top-notch guys and free features out the wazoo, it’s no wonder single ladies are swiping right for Bumble. Meet the new dating kid on the block...

What’s it all about

Bumble, aka The Feminist Tinder, is so hot right now even Grinder is jealous. The dating platform is unique because it puts women in the driver’s seat.

How does it work?

The format is familiar; you still swipe left to reject or right to couple up. From here, the ball is in the matched chick's court and she has 24 hours to make contact before the match is erased.

Think of Bumble as Tinder’s kick-ass big sister. The site was created by the latter’s co-founder, Whitney Wolfe (great name!). According to Wolfe the app is designed to provide a safe, autonomous and respectful online environment to find love, friendships or hook-ups.

What not to do on Bumble

Don’t be coy. We know you want to look super breezy and not a bit desperate by making matches wait for you to respond for, like, three days. But the deadline is concrete, babes! Send that hottie a message post haste or he’ll disappear into dating cyberspace forever!

What’s New

Shake Back!

Ever had swipe regrets? Yeah, us too! Bumble’s free Shake Back feature allows you to undo your previous left swipes. Simply shake your phone like a polaroid picture and give the dude a big old right swipe.

The Friend Zone

Meet your next bestie (or same sex partner) using Bumble’s BFF setting.

VIBee Status

This is basically a VIP room for members with the most Bumble cred. It’s the cream of the crop, yo!

Who’s using it?

According to stats published in Feb 2017, Bumble’s beehive boasts 12.5 million users. Over 90% have a Bachelors Degree under their belts (or even higher in the education dept). In other words: quality ladeez!

They’re young – around 70% are under 35.

They reckon they’re responsible for 5000 wedding and engagements.

Why do we love it?

Because it’s made for women! We’ve been on the back foot in the world of dating for too long. Sure, it’s become ‘acceptable’ for women to make the first move and open doors for herself and blah blah. But most dating apps still seem geared towards people of the male persuasion.
