JODIE UNLEASHES HER EVIL SIDE ON AUSTRALIA’S FASHIONISTAS Growing up as a twin has shaped Jodie McKenzie’s world in more ways than one – she’s rebelled against her parents’ habit of dressing her and her sister in the same outfits with her completely unique style, which helped her realize her love of fashion and talent as a designer.
And now, at the age of 25, she’s created an enviable streetwear label in homage to her daredevil sister… Having trained at the prestigious Whitehouse Institute of Design, Jodie is making her mark in the industry with her edgy new label Evil Twin – a fiercely fashionable range inspired by bittersweet breakups and brooding twin sisters.
Jodie channels her split personality in the distinctive collections, which have caused chaos at General Pants since hitting stores earlier this year, and the result is formidable fashion guaranteed to get the wearer noticed – dark, dressy streetwear with a hint of romance and heaps of attitude. The first full collection, ‘All’s Evil in Love & War’ hip mix of cool streetwear, on-trend militia and edgy glitz – from torn tunic dresses, leather shorts, and rocker motif tees, to khaki vests, denim shirts and slouchy tanks, each piece from the collection is designed to add an edge when mixed with other brands, or pulled together to create an enviable Evil Twin ensemble. Jodie prides herself on creating a label to suit every body type, which takes the wearer from glam daywear to funky cool eveningwear.
Citing her twin sister as her inspiration for the brand, Jodie says “she wears a lot of bold punk and 80’s vintage…she takes fashion risks and I admire that”.
Jodie’s also a strong advocate of homegrown labels such as Ksubi and Ellery, and is constantly inspired by the casual style on the streets of Australia. A label for ladies left-of-the-field – the fashion world will be hearing a lot more from Jodie McKenzie.
