Style is ageless; it moves with us through each phase of our lives and plays an ever-changing role in self-definition. This month, Madison tackles the some-what fragile issue of the ageing process in their ‘Age Issue’, imparting not only fashion, but beauty and lifestyle advice on how to look and feel your best from your 20s to your 60s. The magazine’s ‘age’ theme is perfectly accentuated by cover-girl (or should I say, cover-woman), Gwyneth Paltrow, a woman who has graced through the years with impeccable taste and style, although now at only 38, is testament to the fact that fashion isn’t exclusive to the pre 30 youth of today. As the magazine’s cover-line so fittingly states, fashion is all about ‘eternal style’ and playing with pieces to suit your age and flatter your assets.

When it comes to dressing up, different rules generally apply to different age groups, but in this issue of Madison, senior fashion editor Nicole Bonython-Hines shows readers how to work key trends into their wardrobe, minus the age gap. In ‘Colour Me In’, Bonython-Hines uses the current colour block trend to create stylish, fun and oh-so bright looks for women aged 20 to 60. The result? A fashion spread that can be shared among mothers, daughters, sisters and yes, even grandmothers. Think colour experimentation in your 20s, a statement pop of colour in your 30s, highlighting best features in your 40s and effortless colour use in your 50s.

For those after that added extra, you can’t go past the Madison Accessories Special, a sneak-peak at the hottest shoes, bags and belts of the season- and while we all love a good fashion spread, it’s refreshing to see eight pages dedicated to the often over-looked pieces that can completely transform an outfit. Immerse yourself in the latest footwear, from statement heels, classic pumps, buckled boots and the iconic ballet flat; swoon over the intricate detailing and style of totes, coloured clutches and leopard-print bags; and savour the timeless elegance of new-season belts, from luxe to minimalist. Being a high-end fashion magazine, it’s no surprise that many of the accessories featured are among the likes of Jimmy Choo, Miu Miu, Louis Vitton, Gucci and Burberry Prorsum, but the team (bless their souls) have still included brands like Siren, Witchery, Wittner and Oroton, to keep those on tighter budgets looking their best.

Finally, what would an issue of Madison be without its trademark features. Like the icing on a cake, models sweetly complete the fashion cycle, and in Searching for the next Gisele, journalists Clair Weaver and Jeni Bone report on the small Brazilian town that breeds beauty. Rio Grande de Sul is a richly forested farming state in Brazil’s far south that is the birthplace of 75 of the world’s hottest cover girls, including the elusive Gisele Bundchen. Known as a humble town, home to families spanning three generations, it has quickly become a hub of the world’s next top-models and a regular attraction for big-city scouts. So, what exactly is in the water at Rio Grande de Sul? You’ll need to read the article to find out, but let’s just say it’s as much about charisma and sex appeal as it is good posture and high cheekbones. A must read for those interested in a career in modelling or the industry in general.

The magazine is also filled with the usual suspects, such as health, entertainment and career reads, but being ‘the age issue’, there are numerous articles specific to each generation. Learn how to sleep and exercise well, understand the A-Z of anti-ageing and cook up a storm from the variety of recipes tailored to keep you looking fit and youthful.

No matter what stage of life you’re at, this issue of Madison has all your needs covered.
